Chapter 1: On Earth
Beautiful Surprise
She was lying on the soft grass, looking at the moon, in a clear night. She loved the moon more than everything in her life. She was spending a lot of time looking at her beautiful friend wishing to touch its surface one day.
She was an engineer who just graduated from university with A+ degree; she was so brilliant and smart student, and absolutely the best of her age. Communication was her passion in both study and life; she was saving no effort to learn more about communication, she was so loved by all her teachers for her smart and devotion. At the end of the 2233 year she was preparing herself to start work in one of the biggest communication companies in the world, as they offer her this job for her highest degrees and outstanding smart in her study life. But she didn’t know that she meant to something bigger, something she loved more than everything in her life.
She was walking back to home from college after the last day of her in university, she got home very tired and exhausted, but so happy of course, and she was absolutely surprised to know that Dr. Ali was in their house waiting for her with her father. She can’t imagine that one of her doctors come to her house and for what. She couldn’t imagine or find a reasonable reason for this visit.
- Assalamu A’likum, how are you doctor, and welcome in our home.
- Wa’likum asslam, welcome Rihab, and congratulation for your outstanding graduation. You really deserve the best.
- Thank you doctor.
- You may wonder why I’m here, don’t you?
- You are welcome doctor, any time.
- Thank you my daughter, by the way laylah miss you so much, she makes her final papers to get back home, and I think you will be the first one to know of her arrive, ‘cause she prefer to see you before us.
- I really miss her too doctor. And I can’t imagine that she finally coming home.
- Any way, Rihab, I have a lot of work and I don’t want to waste you family joy with your graduation, but I wonder if you can visit me at my office in the university tomorrow, maybe at 9 o’clock.
- Of course doctor, I’ll be there for sure.
- And now excuse me; it was my pleasure to visit your family.
- The pleasure is mine doctor, you’re welcome any time.
It was the first time that Rihab had been visited by one of her doctors at her home, and not any one, Dr. Ali was one of her favorite doctors, and upon that he was a very famous doctor working with the biggest company of space studies in the world; Phoenix. She really can’t guess the reason of this visit, but she was happy with anyone who reminds her of space, and absolutely Dr. Ali did that. The next night was the tallest for her since long time ago, she stay awake for late time thinking and wondering what could be behind the tomorrow meeting. When she couldn’t sleep she walked out to meet her friend, the moon, maybe she could think better with him. She had millions of thoughts in her mind but she couldn’t guess. She hardly slept that night and wake up early to go and meet Dr. Ali. She was very nervous and her parents calm her down, and assure that Dr. Ali will bring her happy news. She arrived and walked toward Dr. Ali office with millions of thoughts in her mind. What could Dr. Ali want from this meeting? She knocked the door and for a while she thought that he didn’t hear and when she wanted to knock again Ar. Ali opened the door with a big smile on his face, he welcomed Rihab and asked her to come in, while he bring her a cup of water.
- You look so tired and thirsty, take this water.
- Thank you doctor.
She really was confused and absolutely had no idea in her mind
- I think you are wondering why I ask to meet you, don’t you?
- I guess yes doctor.
- First I want to congratulate you for your brilliant graduate; you really impress me and make me proud to have you in my class.
- Thank you doctor, I wouldn’t have this success without you any way.
- You deserve more my daughter. And now let me tell you why I you here. You know Phoenix Corporation, don’t you?
- Yes doctor, I know a lot about its space studies.
- I expect that, I know that space make your passion since the first project of you in the college, and maybe that why you are here now. Well I don’t want to talk a lot, in a few words, in the name of Phoenix Co. I offer you a work in one of its prime projects ever. What do you say?
- Well, I really don’t know what to say doctor; it’s really a big surprise. I…
- Don’t say anything now, take your time and think about it as you want, but not too long I hope, of course you may ask for more information, but I want to hear your first opinion about the idea in general, that will be easier for you. I expect your answer in a week from now. And until that time I guess that you will meet Laylah. ‘Cause she will arrive next Monday as I thought. Have a nice time our future engineer.
- Thank you doctor, I’m really out of words to thank you for interest.
Rihab leave Dr. Dr. Ali office with a big smile on her face, but she really was so surprised and confused, imagine mixing your dream with your passion in one container, what a result you’ll get? The next day’s Rihab was thinking about what Dr. Dr. Ali offer for her, she told her parents whom were so happy to hear this happy news, but she need more than that to take her decision. She was lying on the soft grass of her garden looking at her friend and wondering if that work could bring her a step more close to her dream; Space, and especially, The Moon. Her thoughts put her on the moon, that white spot in the sky she always loved and dreamed off. She didn’t know why she was almost sure that this job will make her jump on the lands of the moon, she have the most beautiful dreams in that week. She was smiling in her dreams as she walked on the moon, and in somehow these smiles found a way to her lips… Happiness was a small word to express her feelings, and joy mayn’t be able to explain that beautiful smile drawn on her face. She had a week not like any week in her life, she was staying all night awake looking at the moon and thinking about this offer, she was so excited and in the same time hesitated. But it’s hard to let your brain to think when your heart is leading the way… the week was almost end and to make her decision she wanted to discuss the offer with Laylah, Dr. Dr. Ali’s daughter, so she called her.
- Assalamu A'likum, how are you Laylah, I miss you so much, where have you been all this time?
- Wa’likum Asslam, welcome our future space engineer! How are you my dear, don’t you want to open the door, or you want me to stay out?
- Where are you Laylah?
- I’m almost at the door of your house. Get out and open dear.
- You always do that with me, I’m coming.
Rihab open the door to see her dearest friend Laylah standing there, so she waste no time to thug her after all this time they’ve been separated ‘cause of study. The two of them were so close friends since their first years of study, but when they enter the university Laylah travel to complete her study abroad, while Rihab complete her study in the university where Laylah father was working.
- First off all don’t say that you come to see me before your parents.
- Of course I did. How I can miss it, after all they used to be the second after you my dear.
- Oh, your father knew it. Any way I really missed you in the last time. And tell me why you called me our future space engineer?
- Come on, my father told me everything, and he offered me the job to.
- Really, I was about to tell you that and know your opinion. I was so confused and really needed you. And here you are. First tell me what you know about this job.
- All I know that we will be together. Not a word more than you knew, believe me. Do think that my father will tell me more than you, you his second daughter dear. Don’t you know that?
- So, what do you think?
- I’m also confused, but since we’ll be together we’ll be ok. Don’t worry I think it’s better to us to take the chance, it may not be available again, don’t you think?
- Sure, but I have a lot of questions in my mind, for example why your father choose me?
- Hemmm, smart, high education degrees, brilliant, and the most important you love the moon. But the question is why me?
- Well, well, let’s see. So active, so educated, so beloved, so funny, so smart, and lots of so and so.
- Any way I make my decision, I’ll take it and you too. We have no chance to refuse it. It’s your dream and passion, and my interest.
- You give me the push that I need to agree, thank you so much darling. And now let’s see what we have to eat. You must be hungry after this journey.
- Of course I am, and let me guess, you must have some spaghetti, don’t you?
- You get it, let’s go.
The two of them have some happy times before Laylah leave Rihab to get her home. And now all the doors were opened in front of Rihab, so wide doors, and lead her to something she’d always loved. The next day was the big day for Rihab. She gathered her power and took the final decision, and headed to meet Dr. Ali. At her way she found her friend Laylah waiting for her at the university garden, they walked together to Dr. Ali office. These times were so special to Rihab, because she is about to enter one of her best interesting dreams, space. She has no idea about what is waiting for her, but all she knew that she finally will make her dream comes into reality, and not any dream, her favorite one. They arrived Dr. Ali office and entered to meet him.
- I expected that you both will come here together. And that’s better because I don’t want to say the same words twice. Look my daughters, you both are my choice. The Phoenix company is about to launch the final stage of a very big project. This project called SPIRIT. And they need a special team to lead this project. Of course you were my choice, not because I love you both so much, but because I know that you deserve it. The SPIRIT project is what you can called a dream of you both as I guess, am I right? Any way the thing that I can tell you now is that you both will be in Alfa team who will lead the project. Of course there are other members in the team you will know soon. What I want from you now is to prepare yourselves for a lot of work and fun. See you both tomorrow. And for you Rihab I’ll talk to your parents soon, even I know that they already want you to take this offer. See you soon.
- Thank you doctor, you really make me out of words. I really don’t know how to thank you.
- Come on Rihab, you deserve it. Let’s go now. See you dad.
As they leave, both of them were so happy. They are together again and in the same work. And that’s was more than they imagine they can get. The few later days were so busy; preparation for such a job was not easy. Rihab was so happy and she never let that smile leave her face, even when she was asleep. When someone starts achieving a life dream, all the world become joy and happiness.
